The Foundation of Historical Museums in Hamburg sought a larger audience for an event: their multi-day, online symposium, "The Postcolonial Museum." Confronting existing boundaries starts with defining those borders openly and honestly. Even in the face of additional COVID-19 restrictions, the foundation organized a diverse collection of potential solutions for breaching those borders, together.
Platforming their expanded collective of experts called for more audacious branding, distinctively not from their individual houses. We agreed something louder was in order for a critique of the host institutions themselves, trailblazing new ways forward. Reclaiming old spaces with old tools is a fool’s errand. They needed fresh tools to express this watershed event's activist stance, with a more intuitive design, to clear the way for marginalized voices.
